Brian Murphy has dedicated his recruiting career to connecting top talent to the best opportunities and companies in the Life Sciences industry, from rising biotech startups to the Fortune 100. He has broadened and honed his effective skillset through more than 20 years of working on both sides of the talent acquisition equation: as TA Head for several industry sponsor companies and as a highly-successful recruiter for well-respected executive search firms.

There are not many scenarios that Brian has not encountered in his career. It’s that experience and expertise that he brings and leads with at B|A Talent. Whether you are a client or a candidate, Brian’s knowledge and personal, consultative approach delivers the vital results you need and makes for a positive and enjoyable process. 

Growing up in the Boston area as a passionate hockey player, Brian learned the values of hard work, teamwork and taking accountability early in his life. These values have served him well throughout his professional and personal success (he once won the Ireland Heavyweight Boxing Championship in college - a story with an interesting twist). These principles are also the foundation upon which B|A Talent is built.

Career Highlights:

• Led the TA function at Abiomed, a cardiology medical device maker, to a 108% increase in U.S. headcount during tenure (~ 350 hires). 
• Abiomed was named the 8th fastest-growing company and the No. 1 fastest-growing medical device company by Fortune during this time (2016). Abiomed was acquired by Johnson & Johnson for 16.6B in 2022.
• Directed a 107% increase in total company headcount as TA Head at Kymera Therapeutics, a public Phase II clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company. Hired numerous key leadership roles from Director to Senior Vice President across all functions.
• Held dual role of TA & HR Head at Corbus Pharmaceuticals, a public Phase III clinical-stage company. Directed a 305% increase in total company headcount during tenure. 
• As HR head at Corbus, developed and oversaw remote onboarding program for ~50 FTEs and 20+ contractors during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. 
• Achieved five consecutive years of over-quota results (ranging from 106% to 127% to Quota) as a Senior Executive Recruiter at Carter/Mackay, Inc., a leading executive search firm servicing the Healthcare sector.
